| In Georgia, beer is taxed at every level.
The combined state and local excise taxes are the third
highest
in the United States. For each case of beer sold, local governments
collect $1.20, the state collects $1.08 and the federal
government
collects $1.30. Sales tax, of course, is added at the checkout
counter. Wholesalers bear all administrative costs of collecting
and remitting taxes to more than 500 local jurisdictions
monthly.

Taxes make up almost one-third of the price of
every beer in Georgia. |
