Who We Are
The Georgia Beer Wholesalers Association
(GBWA) represents the 42 distinct wholesale beer distributors
in Georgia. Our wholesalers directly employ nearly 3,000 Georgians.
We make a major impact on the state economy through our purchase
and operation of trucks, warehouses, computers, and many other
capital items.
The Three-Tier System
The GBWA is a critical link in the three-tier system. Wholesalers
buy products from the brewers, store it, sell it and deliver
it to all licensed retailers:

This system has evolved over the years with three principle
goals:
|
|
To protect the safety, health, and welfare
of the citizens of Georgia, |
|
|
To foster vigorous and healthy interbrand competition
within the industry, and |
|
|
To provide an orderly system of accountability,
control, and tax collection within the industry. |
Wholesalers & Their Communities
Each year the GBWA awards three college
scholarships on the basis of financial need, academic
achievement and community involvement.
Individual wholesalers provide a range of community services
free of charge:
|

|
Alcohol server training to employees of clubs, hotels,
bars, and restaurants.
|
|

|
Training in ID verification for employees of grocery,
convenience, and package stores.
|
|

|
Speakers and educational materials to high school
and college students and their parents.
|
 |
Alcohol awareness promotions through public service
announcements in radio, television, and newspaper ads.

Georgia's beer wholesalers have spent over a half-million
dollars on alcohol awareness programs.
These efforts show results: Government statistics show
continued reduction in underage drinking, alcohol-related
auto accidents and binge drinking.
